Wood Burning Water Heaters & Hot Tubs Perfect for the Cottage

The Snorkel Stove Company was formed in 1978, due to overwhelming demand for their hot tubs equipped with the Snorkel Stove. The original Snorkel Stove was developed in a Physics laboratory at the University of Alberta, Canada. The physicists’ main purpose was to develop an efficient wood burning water heater to provide the luxury of having a hot tub to people in remote areas, without using electricity. All of their tubs are handcrafted with the utmost care and consideration, using only the finest kiln-dried clear western red cedar.

The Snorkel Stove Company designs and manufactures hot tubs using an age old process known as coopering, or barrel-making. Patterned after a centuries-old process and employing modern milling techniques, these tubs are classically simple. They can generally be fully assembled in approximately four hours.

The Snorkel Stove is a submerged wood burning stove that is easy to install, simple to use and highly efficient. It is also highly economical, in that it requires no electricity to operate. The average tub with a 450 gallon capacity will heat at a rate of 30 degrees per hour. At that rate, there is no need to continually heat the water as is the case with conventional hot tubs.

These tubs are generally sold without filtration systems and jets. They are based upon a design that has stood the test of time and are very similar to traditional baths. Without the use of a filtration system, the water should be changed with every few soaks. This should not be a particular concern when one considers the incredibly fast heating capacity of the Snorkel Stove. If you are keen on having a filtration system or jets, they are offered at an additional expense.

These tubs come in a variety of sizes and in either 3 or 4 foot depths. Their most popular model is their 72” diameter tub. It has a seating capacity for 4 to 5 adults, and holds approximately 470 gallons of water. The Snorkel Stove Company hot tubs are a spectacle to behold as they are stunning works of pure craftsmanship. This company puts a lot of pride in their work and they stand behind their products 100%. If you are looking for a hot tub that is not going to cost you a small fortune to operate, you might want to consider the Snorkel Stove Company.
